Record Your Actual Flight
In this tutorial we will assume that we are flying a short VFR flight from Hilversum airfield in the Netherlands (EHHV) to the international airport of Antwerpen/Deurne in Belgium (EBAW).
We will be using ForeFlight as our electronic flight bag application on this journey, so start the recording of the flight using the REC
button as shown on the following screenshot.
Next, just fly your real aircraft as you normally do and hit the REC
button again after you have parked and shutdown the aircraft. This will make a draft entry in your electronic log book, which will be turned into actual entry after you approve it.
Click on the log entry and then tap on the small map of your flight as shown on the following screenshot. This will show the actual flight path and flight profile window of your flight.
Now being in the profile view of your flight, click on the Share
button on the top right to show you the Send To
popup dialog.
In the Send To
popup dialog select the envelope icon and send the KML file to your e-mail.
Save the KML file from your e-mail account to, for example, your disk C:\flights
folder on your computer. Note the KML file has some cryptic name, but this is fine.
On the next step of this tutorial, we will convert this KML file into Microsoft Flight Simulator's PLN flight plan format.
